Hello! Please remember that we have a field trip this Friday, April 29! We will be going to the school forest/planting trees. Super exciting! The weather looks favorable. It is supposed to be 60 and party cloudy! With that though, I'd suggest you have your child come prepared with a raincoat or something just in case. We also ask that students either wear boots or tennis shoes as we will be in the mud and dirt and walking through the woods. NO FLIP FLOPS! Please also be advised that although we will miss the mosquitoes dearly (ha!), there is a chance that ticks could be out and gnats, too...so have your child prepare for that. No lunches are needed as a lunch will be provided for everyone by Johnson Timber. I'd also suggest wearing comfortable clothing as we will be moving around. Thank you! Any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email. :)

We have learned all kinds of letters in our phonics lessons including n, o and t! We have learned about reading to someone and reading to self for our Daily 5 and also have learned about our expectations for 1st grade writing and 1st grade pictures for Writer's Workshop. In math we have learned about 5 groups and how to make numbers greater than 5 by making a 5 group and some more ones! We have also read lots of books about the alphabet and are becoming rock stars with our letters! I am so proud! We are doing FABULOUS in first grade! BUT... there are a few minor things we need to work on... 1. bathroom--our behavior in the bathroom hasn't been the greatest! We need to remember to use 1 pump of soap, 1 paper towel and that we go in, go to the bathroom and get out! 2. We also need to work on blurting out. We have RULE #2: Raise your h...
