Absence 5/1 and 5/2

I will be out of school on May 1st and May 2nd as I will be attending a Math Conference in Green Lake, Wisconsin those two days. There will be a substitute in my room who will also go on the field trip with my students on Friday. If you could please remind your students the importance of being on their best behavior while I am gone, I would really appreciate it. This will be the first time that I have been gone for an extended amount of time! As you can tell, I am a little nervous about it. :)

Friday Field Trip

This Friday, May 2nd, 2014 the fourth grade will have their very first field trip! How exciting?! We will be going to the school forest as well as planting trees. There is a lot of fun to be had this day, so please make sure that you child is here. Please remember to send your child with a jacket, rain/mud boots, and/or a hat of some sort. There is a chance it will be muddy. The students should also come in jeans or sweats...please NO SHORTS. They should bring a water bottle as well to stay hydrated. Lunch will be provided by Johnson Timber, unless you would like your child to have a school lunch, then we can make arrangements for that as well. Please just let me know. Thanks!

School Schedule Change

This is just a quick reminder that starting today, April 28th, 2014, the Hayward Community School District will be extending their school days by 5 minutes for every building. That means that the HIS will be dismissing at 3:15 from today until the end of the school year. We will also be starting out school day at 8:00am.

SCHOOL CLOSING EARLY TODAY

DUE TO THE INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE HAYWARD COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL BE CLOSING EARLY TODAY. IF YOU HAVE CHANGES IN AFTER SCHOOL PLANS FOR YOUR SON/DAUGHTER IN EITHER 3RD-5TH GRADE, PLEASE CALL MRS. GAY AT THE FRONT OFFICE AS SOON AS YOU CAN. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND STAY SAFE!

No School 4/18

Please remember that there is no school on Friday, April 18th, 2014 in lieu of Good Friday and the beginning of our Easter Break. Happy Easter to everyone! Please enjoy this time with family and friends. Happy Spring! :)

Field Day Shirts

Hello! Just a reminder that the field day shirt form and money is due on Thursday, April 17th, 2014. I am aware that the letter that was sent home said April 25th, 2014, but I'd like it to be here a little earlier so I can turn it in as soon as possible. I will still accept money up until the 25th, but if it is at all possible to get the money to me before Easter Break it would be much appreciated. Thank you! :)

Weather

Please be advised that here in the Sawyer County and Washburn County areas we are under a Winter Storm Warning. This storm is predicted to produce 12-15 inches of snow in some areas. There will be low visibility. The storm is set to start around Thursday afternoon and go into Friday. The main accumulation of snow is expected between Thursday at midnight into Friday until noon. Please be careful traveling and take necessary precautions. Please also watch the news, listen to the radio or pay attention to your phone in case of a a school closing for Friday 4/4. Thank you!

Friday 4/4

This Friday we have a lot going on here in room 406.  In the morning at 8:30 we will be celebrating out March Madness Reading Competition. We are also having our Third Quarter Party with a movie day. Students are invited to bring in blankets, pillows and wear pajamas. They can also bring in a snack and something to drink, but please make sure it has a twist top on it and NO POP! Furthermore, here in our classroom, we are celebrating the StAR readers of 3rd quarter with an ice cream treat. Those students who made their AR goal of 100% of their points are asked to bring in a topping as I will be supplying the ice cream, spoons and bowls. Please congratulate your child if he/she made her goal and will be participating in this party. Lots of fun!! :) I am excited to end the week with a little "sunshine" in 4th grade, even though we will be full of snow! yuk! Thank you for your help in all of this. It is truly appreciated.
