Old-Fashioned Fun!

Yarn Dolls Today Mrs. DeLisle (Cali's mom) was kind of enough to do a project with the kiddos. Cali chose to make a yarn doll(s) for her Pioneer Project. She did a great job presenting to us about how and why the pioneer children used these and then brought supplies for everyone in class to make one of their own! How fun!? Below is a picture of the kiddos holding/making their yarn dolls. After this presentation, I am so excited to see the other Pioneer Projects!

DREAM Houses

We practiced doing area and perimeter earlier this week by designing the "blue prints" of our DREAM houses. The students got to put their imaginations to work while also doing some math! What fun!? Today we made our models come to life by buildings them with toothpicks and marshmallows! They LOVED it!

Book Fair

Our class will be visiting the book fair on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016 from 9:30-10am.

Jump Rope for Heart Celebration

Here an action shot of all the jumping our kiddos did  today! What fun!?!? Thank you to all of those who donated and raised money/awareness for such a great cause. :) 'Jumping Like a Cane!' 'Caring Like a Cane!'  Mr. Vesel kindly took a few videos, too! He is going to share them with me, so hopefully I can get them posted!

Yoga!

We love doing yoga as a brain break! The kiddos are laying in 'corpse pose' while listening to some calming and relaxing music.

Pioneer Project/Pioneer Celebration

Pioneer Project During our ELA time, we have been learning and reading about the Pioneer Days primarily using Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods. Students have been learning how different it was to be a child in the days of the pioneers. It’s time to have some fun and get the creative juices flowing with a project! Please reference the website below for project options and ideas.  All projects will be presented at our Pioneer Day Celebration and should be done as neatly as possible.  Encourage your son/daughter to take some pride in their work.  This is their time to shine!  If you don’t have internet access, there are a couple of projects with directions attached to this letter that are also acceptable.   Access project ideas here:   http://www.thecraftycrow.net/2011/09/pioneer-crafts-for-kids.html All crafts must be completed and at school and ready to present by Monday, February 29.    Students will be graded on...

Warm Clothes

It is a MUST that students come to school with their warm clothes. This includes, but is not limited to hats, gloves, snowpants, jackets and boots. Please also remind your students that if they plan to play in the snow (fort building, snowman building, sledding, snowboarding, etc.) they must wear their snowpants outside. I can't have children sitting in wet pants in class. Thank you!
