Fire Safety

The Hayward Fire Department members came in today to talk about fire safety in our homes. They gave us a lot of great information! Your child may have a lot to tell you! Some things they told us to do are: *Have a fire drill at home *Know where your meeting spot is in case of a fire *Know how to dial 911 in case  of an emergency and be able to say your address *Check batteries in our smoke alarm and replace them if needed Make sure children know how to open windows in case of fire *Go through the bag of goodies the fire fighters gave to your child. There is a lot of great information in it!

Week (last) in Review

This past week was just like our other weeks..busy, busy, busy! We are learning so much!  ELA: We are continuing our study of the alphabet and starting our study on ways to be healthy! If you have a chance talk with your student about what they can do to keep healthy! We have also learned our sounds for a lot of letters including a, l, n, s, p, t, i, o and we started with blends today (sl, sn, sp, etc.). I will be introducing our first spelling list this week (most likely tomorrow). Writing: We have continued our study on how to write a story. We have learned how to plan a story (pick a topic, touch & tell, sketch, write and revise), we have learned ways to spell out our words and today we learned how to pick a topic that wasn't too big (watermelon), but in stead pick a small moment (seed) to write about. The kiddos are doing such a great job with their writing..I am super impressed. Math: We have finished our first unit in math and took our final unit test last week too...
