Snack

We are running low on healthy snacks! If you'd like to donate something to the class that would be greatly appreciated. We have 15 students in our room. We usually eat snack around 2:00 right before Math. Individually wrapped snacks are appreciated, but not expected. Thank you in advance for helping us fill our hungry tummies!

Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Challenge, Halloween

Red Ribbon Week: This is RRW and we have a few dress up days to help spread awareness of a healthy life style. Say No to Drugs! Thursday: Pajama Day Friday: Wear Red Day Kindness Challenge: Our Kindness Challenge today was to find a charity or a organization to donate time/money too. We had a nice discussion today during Morning Meeting and decided that they easiest way to do this was to donate a canned/boxed good to our local food shelf. If your child would like to donate something, please send it in tomorrow and I will drop off the donations. Thank you! Halloween: Monday, October 31 we will be celebrating Halloween. We will walk to the nursing home and sing our Halloween songs around 10:00am in our costumes. We will be having our Halloween Party from 2:00-3:00 where we will watch a Halloween movie (Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin) and have some snacks.

Reminder

3:45-7:00pm in room 164! If you are unable to attend please let me know OR if you are unsure of your time, please contact me ASAP. Thank you!

Fire Safety

The Hayward Fire Department members came in today to talk about fire safety in our homes. They gave us a lot of great information! Your child may have a lot to tell you! Some things they told us to do are: *Have a fire drill at home *Know where your meeting spot is in case of a fire *Know how to dial 911 in case  of an emergency and be able to say your address *Check batteries in our smoke alarm and replace them if needed Make sure children know how to open windows in case of fire *Go through the bag of goodies the fire fighters gave to your child. There is a lot of great information in it!

Impact Aid Form, Spelling List, Let's Read, and Socks

*Some of you will receive the Impact Aid Form again tomorrow. This is because it has yet to be turned in. Please fill this out as soon as possible and return to me. *Our first spelling list was sent home today! Please keep this in a readily available spot in your home where your student can practice this every night. *A Let's Read calendar was sent home yesterday. Please follow the directions on the letter attached. Any other questions I would be happy to answer at conferences. *If you have any old socks laying around, please send them in to school with your students. We are going to use them as erasers for our white boards during math. THANK YOU!

Week (last) in Review

This past week was just like our other weeks..busy, busy, busy! We are learning so much!  ELA: We are continuing our study of the alphabet and starting our study on ways to be healthy! If you have a chance talk with your student about what they can do to keep healthy! We have also learned our sounds for a lot of letters including a, l, n, s, p, t, i, o and we started with blends today (sl, sn, sp, etc.). I will be introducing our first spelling list this week (most likely tomorrow). Writing: We have continued our study on how to write a story. We have learned how to plan a story (pick a topic, touch & tell, sketch, write and revise), we have learned ways to spell out our words and today we learned how to pick a topic that wasn't too big (watermelon), but in stead pick a small moment (seed) to write about. The kiddos are doing such a great job with their writing..I am super impressed. Math: We have finished our first unit in math and took our final unit test last week too
