2nd Quarter Reward Party

Hello! Tomorrow is the 2nd Quarter Reward Party. All students who make the party are invited to bring something to play with for a free day. We are running this free day much like Mrs. Wood ran her free day in music. I have sent home reports from Dojo that show each student's percentage of positive points for 2nd quarter (Nov. 5-Jan. 22). In order to participate in the Reward Party students must have 75% or more positive points. If your student has this, they may wear pajamas tomorrow as well as bring something to play with. Any questions please let me know. :) Thanks!

KICK OFF CLUB

We are kicking off the new semester and each morning with an awesome opportunity for your child! Perhaps they need some extra help with their homework, maybe someone to listen to them while the read OR need some added encouragement to get them through an assignment! Kick Off Club might be just the fit for your child! WHO: any student in need of tutoring or homework help WHAT: peer mentoring group, students help students under the direction of a teacher WHEN: 7:30AM school days WHERE: Intermediate School Library

Hayward Elementary School Campus Behavior Matrix

I am going to be sending home a copy of our Above the Line, Below the Line behavior chart to have for your convenience and reference. Please feel free and I encourage you to discuss this with your students. We are at that time of year where behavior takes a dive and discipline referrals become increasingly popular. As long as we are all on the same page of what our expectations are we should be great! Thanks!

Reminders from Office

Absences: We are at the point in the school year when absences are starting to accumulate. Please clear up any student absences that you can. This helps with our records and it clears up misunderstandings with our truancy officer. Please call Mrs. Gay to check on your attendance record if you have questions. Busing:  We do our best to honor busing requests, but with more than 450 students in our school it can be challenging. Please know that busing to places other than the primary residence is a courtesy of our school district. We will continue to do our best, but you can help by calling before 2:00 with after school changes and by keeping the number of buses your child rides to a minimum. thank you for your help. Field Day: So you can play ahead....the IS Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 20.

Below is an update on what is happening in room 406 on these bitter cold days!  With today being MLK Jr. Day we did some celebrating and learned about his importance and impact he had on the people of the United States. Please ask your child what he/she learned about today and have them show you the flipbook we made.  In ELA we are done with our Revolutionary War Unit and are still working on our Bringing History to Life research paper. These are due Friday. Most of the work is in class. At the start of 3rd Qtr./2nd Semester we will begin an new writing piece as well as a new ELA Unit. We will be doing out Little House in the Big Woods/Pioneer Unit. It is very fun. Please look for some fun activities that will be sent home soon. We will be having a Pioneer Day and the students will also be responsible for building a pioneer project. This will be an ...
