Hello! It has been a while since I have last updated the blog. My sincere apologies! Life gets crazy sometimes, right?
Below is an update on what is happening in room 406 on these bitter cold days!
With today being MLK Jr. Day we did some celebrating and learned about his importance and impact he had on the people of the United States. Please ask your child what he/she learned about today and have them show you the flipbook we made.
In ELA we are done with our Revolutionary War Unit and are still working on our Bringing History to Life research paper. These are due Friday. Most of the work is in class. At the start of 3rd Qtr./2nd Semester we will begin an new writing piece as well as a new ELA Unit. We will be doing out Little House in the Big Woods/Pioneer Unit. It is very fun. Please look for some fun activities that will be sent home soon. We will be having a Pioneer Day and the students will also be responsible for building a pioneer project. This will be an at home project. More information will be sent home soon.
In Math we are working hard in our Unit 4. We are talking a lot about word problems using multiplication/division and addition/subtraction. Please be patient with this unit. It is by far one of our hardest units. We focus on writing an equation with variables (letters) and numbers. The kiddos seem to be doing pretty good with this so far, so congratulate them on their hard work and perseverance! Way to go!
Remember that Friday, January 22nd is an early release day and the end of the quarter 2. We will be dismissing at 12:40pm. Please make sure your child has after school plans and if the plans change please let me or Mrs. Gay know ASAP.
Today we also practiced our Code Red Drill (intruder in the building). This was a very serious practice and the students did a great job. During this drill they are to listen and listen immediately and follow directions the first time given. It was just a practice in order to be as prepared as we can in case a situation arises that warrants the need to put this practice into effect. Please talk with your child about what they learned. Thank you!
