This week in room 406 has been another great week. It was a totally normal, uninterrupted 5 days which was marvelous!
In Math we have finished out unit on measurement (#5). Your student has learned all of the metric system measurements (grams, liters, meters) and all of the customary system (inches, feet, yards, miles, pounds/tons, gallons, cups, pints, ounces) (USA) measurements. We had fun with our conversions and the students really seemed to enjoy the lessons and enrichment activities we did in class. Thank you for your help with the homework and such as well! :)
On Monday your student will be receiving a Unit #5 Review. We will have most of the math class to work on the problems together and it will be due Tuesday. On Tuesday we will go over the review together as a class and I will be answering any questions the students have. Once we go through this the students will be responsible for bringing it home, studying the material and having the review signed by a parent or guardian. This will show me that they studied and that the parents/guardians are aware of what is going on in math.
On Wednesday of next week (early release) we will have the Unit #5 test. I will be collecting the Unit #5 Review that morning as well! Please be sure your student has this with them as it has become quite common for students to not do this.
We have also finished out latest novel Because of Winn Dixie today! The students finished their questions and will be taking a final test sometime next week as well. We will also be doing a commutative project for the novel of the student's choice (controlled choice that is as I give them options). We have about 2 weeks left of Unit #3: Animals are Characters, Too! for ELA and will be finishing it up with a little poetry and an animal report. I am very excited to be doing this! It should be really fun!
